Chica Weekend

Get ready for Chica Weekend #3 -- September 27-29/2024

There's nothing quite like getting your surfing life going with a great weekend surf camp ... for women only! It's the ultimate opportunity for women who want to learn to surf and those who already have surfing experience to come together for a great weekend that involves a whole lot more than just surfing.

By the end of Chica Weekend, campers also will have experienced sessions in balance and strength training, yoga, nutrition, wave science and quite possibly, meditation. We're particularly excited about this Weekend as we are returning aerial yoga as part of the experience.

There should be a little fun with mermaid tails and the opportunity, should you so choose, to camp out for two nights in a geodesic dome/yurt, a radically redesigned school bus or your very own tent or RV. Not to mention a special Saturday night inner served up by Private Chef Bobby O'Shea followed by live music and an authentic Sunday afternoon Costa Rican-style brunch.

At the helm of the camps is the Head Chica herself, Sophia (SoPhlow) Pickett.

Sophia has lived a total "surfer girl" life, growing up just a few miles south of the shop in Wabasso  and surfing basically all her life. Now a certified yoga instructor and a licensed massage therapist, she owns Sophlow Yoga in Sebastian, Florida and is one great surf instructor. Sophia is full of personality and makes Chica Weekends a ton of fun.

The camp curriculum isn’t limited to surfing, but also includes a wide range of related activities that are key to successful surfing. Sophia, along with guest coaches, will lead clinics in balance, strength training and yoga  All instructors are themselves veteran surfers with a thorough understanding of how their specialties impact better surfing.
